This weekends gonna be the shiznit

Lots of storm activity is currently going on in the higher latitudes of the North Pacific now. A new storm, now in the Bering Sea, is forecast to move into the Alaskan Gulf over the next few days while a series of separate lows join in from the West creating a large complex low extending from the Bering Sea all the way into the Gulf of Alaska. Therefore, it looks like we will see a fresh, new NW (300-310+) groundswell show up late on Friday, mainly after dark. That swell picks up further overnight and peaks on Saturday with lots of chest-head high+ waves and 2-3' overhead sets at standout NW spots.

Furthermore; if this storm behaves as currently forecast then it will dig a little further south, while becoming more organized and strengthening in the Gulf of Alaska over Fri/Sat, developing a stronger and MUCH larger shot of WNW (285-300) groundswell that is due to build in over the later afternoon on Sunday, the 26th then top out over Mon/Tues of next week before fading thereafter. Early indications look good for most exposed breaks to see well overhead to double overhead waves, while standouts are potentially larger at times. This storm is still yet to develop, so stay tuned for all the latest updates..."

Its Go Time for Half Moon Bay Breakers

The storm currently advancing across the Pacific is going to hit Mavericks Saturday with a 12 hour window of powerful swells. The question is whether the waves are powerful enough to break on top of the 10am high tide, which is why StormSurf.com forecaster Mark Sponsler gets the big bucks (and the big ulcers). Still, this system holds the best prospects for a contest we've seen.

Accordingly, I'm raising the alert level to DEFCON 3. Please make sure your organization is ready for a Saturday contest.
